Overview

The Cameron TOM WHEATLEY swing check valve is used in critical service applications worldwide. The swing check design prevents backflow in a fraction of a second, with no need for expensive actuation.

Design

The TOM WHEATLEY swing check valve’s subsea model features a unique, free-swinging clapper. If a reverse-flow or critical pigging operation is required, the clapper can be manually, ROV, or hydraulically actuated and held in a full-open position.

Applications & Benefits

Because the swing-check design closes on reverse flow in a fraction of a second and needs no external actuator, it protects pumps, compressors, and pipelines from backflow while keeping installation and maintenance costs low. The subsea model’s free-swinging clapper — actuated manually, by ROV, or hydraulically — lets operators lock the valve open for pigging or critical pipeline operations, making it well suited to offshore, subsea, and critical onshore service.
